Region Sörmland has revoked its approval of Blodtrycksdoktorn, a digital healthcare provider, following a review that revealed widespread deficiencies in patient care. The decision, announced Tuesday, also includes a written warning for Min Doktor, a Nyköping-based healthcare center that contracted with Blodtrycksdoktorn as a subcontractor. The move underscores growing scrutiny of digital healthcare services and their adherence to established medical standards.

According to the region, 99 percent of the reviewed patient records contained shortcomings. Region Sörmland has determined that the visits should not be reimbursed financially, reports Läkartidningen.

“We take the results of the journal review very seriously and have therefore withdrawn the region’s approval of Blodtrycksdoktorn as a subcontractor to the Min Doktor healthcare center,” said Mats Henningsson, Chief Health Officer at Region Sörmland, in a press release.

May Seek Reimbursement

The ruling prevents Blodtrycksdoktorn from billing other regions for services provided through Region Sörmland.

Several regions had previously paid for care delivered by the company. In Region Skåne, costs totaled 16.5 million Swedish krona in 2025, according to Läkartidningen. Following the review, the region decided to halt billing healthcare centers for these visits and instead place the cost with the primary care board.

“When this review came out, and it became clear that only a minimal part of what is actually required was met, we cannot burden the healthcare centers. We need to take systemic responsibility,” said Lisa Flinth, chair of the primary care board in Region Skåne, to Läkartidningen.

Flinth also suggested that discussions should be held regarding potential reimbursement for incorrectly billed services.
