Romanian Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan is meeting with Ursula von der Leyen and other European leaders in Brussels on Thursday, February 26, 2026, to unlock €231 million in funds from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR).

Bolojan’s first meeting in Brussels is scheduled with Roxana Mînzatu, European Commission Executive Vice-President for Social Rights and Skills, Quality Jobs and Preparedness.

The Prime Minister will then discuss matters with Valdis Dombrovskis, European Commissioner for Economy and Productivity, Implementation and Simplification, followed by a meeting with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, according to the official visit agenda.

The government announced that Bolojan will present Romania’s priorities for the future EU budget post-2028 to the Brussels leaders, which is currently under negotiation. Ilie Bolojan will emphasize the importance of maintaining funds for agriculture and cohesion policy, as well as boosting economic competitiveness. “The objective is the efficient employ of European resources for investment projects that stimulate economic growth in Romania,” the Executive stated.

Discussions will also cover the implementation of the PNRR and the recovery of the €231 million following the adoption of the reform of special pensions for magistrates.

Preparation for the working visit to Brussels included a discussion with Nicușor Dan and a last-minute meeting on Wednesday evening with Members of the European Parliament from the Coalition. The Prime Minister sought to align domestic priorities with the European agenda.
