Bosch Professional has launched the EXPERT D-tect18V-200-17C wall scanner, a new tool designed to facilitate professionals accurately locate objects within various wall types.

The device utilizes Bosch’s innovative radar technology combined with object detection AI, aiming to deliver more reliable, precise, and user-friendly measurements. This integration represents a significant step forward in construction and renovation technology, offering professionals a more efficient way to assess structures before cutting or drilling.
To scan a wall, the device is rolled across the surface using its integrated wheels. Data is collected and processed across the entire scanning area. The new AI-based object recognition feature is capable of locating and identifying various objects, including plastic and metal pipes – up to a depth of 200 mm – within the wall.

The high-resolution IPS display shows all detected objects during the scan, along with their depth within the wall. This allows users to easily differentiate between metal, wood, plastic pipes, and electrical lines through a color-coded system. A 3D imaging function, used with the included display, provides a comprehensive and easily interpretable overview of the wall, including clear images of reinforcing steel and complex object combinations.

The innovative IPS screen offers wide viewing angles, excellent color reproduction, high contrast, and uniform brightness distribution. A scratch-resistant protective glass ensures a clear and consistent view at all times. The device allows for easy documentation of all data thanks to its screenshot function and internal memory, with data transfer via USB-C and SD card.
Users can perform regular software updates independently to always benefit from the latest features and improvements. The lightweight design and ergonomic handle ensure high comfort and ease of use.
The EXPERT D-tect18V-200-17C falls into Bosch Professional’s Expert performance category. Tools in this category are specifically designed for the most demanding professionals and combine innovative features, high user protection, and excellent comfort. The scanner is available from select qualified dealers starting in January 2026. Expert batteries and chargers, as well as the Expert accessory range, created in 2021, continue to be available through all common distribution channels.
The wall scanner is delivered in a very practical L-BOXX case. The delivery includes a GAL 18V-20 charger, a GBA 18V 2.0Ah battery, a USB-C cable, a wrist strap, and a robust, waterproof synthetic paper display measuring 60 cm by 40 cm.
