Botafogo is undergoing significant changes, with reports surfacing about player salaries amid a wave of club-wide dismissals. Approximately 40 individuals have been released in recent days, a move the club says will generate around R$ 11 million in annual savings.

Details regarding the compensation of several players deemed “very unproductive” have come to light. According to reports, Joaquín Correa earns R$ 1.6 million per month, while Arthur Cabral takes home R$ 1.4 million monthly. Artur, a former standout for Palmeiras and Red Bull Bragantino, is reportedly paid R$ 1.3 million each month.

The cost-cutting measures extend to the goalkeeping position, with Neto, who has faced criticism for a series of errors, earning R$ 700,000 per month. Chris Ramos, a forward whose performance has been debated, receives R$ 525,000 monthly. These figures have sparked discussion about the club’s financial strategy and roster management.

The recent staff reductions include Raphael Rezende, the scout coordinator, and Cláudio Caçapa, an assistant coach. In a statement, Botafogo cited the require for improved “financial sustainability” and a modernization of the club’s SAF (Sociedade Anônima de Futebol) management structure as the reasons for the changes. The club is hoping these adjustments will lead to a more stable financial future and improved on-field performance.
