Brad Pitt Filming in Greece: Hotel with Aristotle Onassis History

Hollywood star Brad Pitt is filming in a historic Greek hotel that once hosted Aristotle Onassis, according to reports from Greek media. The actor arrived in the country in February to work on the international film production, “The Riders.”

The film crew initially set up on the island of Hydra in the Aegean Sea, meticulously recreating the atmosphere of the 1980s. Filming then moved to the city of Chalkida in central Greece, where Greek television station “Sky” captured footage of the production. Pitt was similarly spotted in Athens earlier this month.

The production is now based in Nea Makri, Attica, where filming continues at the Nireus Hotel. The hotel was selected for its authentic 1980s ambiance, and is known to have been a frequent haunt of the iconic Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis and other prominent figures from the late 20th century. The property, situated near the sea on a 4,500-square-meter lot, is currently for sale for €10 million. The hotel has also served as a backdrop for older Greek films and television series.

Pitt’s girlfriend, Ines de Ramon, is also in Greece, and the couple has been seen sailing on a yacht.
