A municipal official in Bratislava, Slovakia, is suspected of accepting a bribe in exchange for issuing a building permit, police announced Friday, March 13, 2026. The allegations center around a payment of 220,000 euros.

Authorities have so far charged one individual who allegedly acted as an intermediary between a developer and the local government. According to investigators, the intermediary solicited the bribe from the developer.

The intermediary retained 70,000 euros of the total sum, and ensured the remaining 150,000 euros were delivered to the official, police said. The case echoes a similar situation involving former Nové Mesto mayor Rudolf Kusý, where comparable sums were reportedly linked to bribery.

Police have not yet released the name of the official involved, citing ongoing investigative concerns. The investigation highlights concerns about corruption within local government structures.
