Tickets for the 2026 production of Giuseppe Verdi’s “La traviata” at the Bregenzer Festspiele are in high demand, with July performances nearly sold out and August dates quickly filling up.
The opera, set to premiere on July 22, 2026, on the Seebühne, features a staging by Damiano Michieletto. The production will run through August 23, 2026, with performances taking place on select dates.
According to festival officials, “La traviata” is already proving to be a major success for the Bregenzer Festspiele’s anniversary year. Approximately 80 percent of tickets for the 28 performances had been sold as of early February.
The production stars Stacey Alleaume, Julia Muzychenko, and Marjukka Tepponen as Violetta Valéry, with Julien Behr, Long Long, and Jose Simerilla Romero portraying Alfredo Germont. Audun Iversen, Kostas Smoriginas, and Vladimir Stoyanov will take on the role of Giorgio Germont.
Kirill Karabits and Pietro Rizzo will share musical direction, marking their debuts with the Bregenzer Festspiele. Michieletto’s staging reimagines the classic story within the vibrant setting of the Roaring Twenties.
The set design, created by Paolo Fantin, features a striking centerpiece: a massive, fragmented mirror with shards reaching up to 12 meters high on a 25-meter-tall steel structure. This visually arresting element promises to enhance the dramatic impact of Verdi’s beloved opera.
The Bregenzer Festspiele Choir, Prague Philharmonic Choir, and Wiener Symphoniker will also be featured in the production. More information about the performances and ticket availability can be found on the Bregenzer Festspiele website.
The popularity of “La traviata” underscores the continued appeal of classic opera for contemporary audiences, and the Bregenzer Festspiele’s innovative staging is expected to draw both seasoned opera-goers and newcomers to the art form.
