Warnings Issued Over Misleading BSU Wage Subsidy Claims for April 2026
Authorities and fact-checkers are warning the public to be cautious of reports claiming that the Indonesian government has begun distributing the Bantuan Subsidi Upah (BSU), or Wage Subsidy Assistance, in April 2026. Despite various latest updates on disbursement and instructions on how to obtain the Rp600,000 subsidy circulating online, official sources have flagged these claims as fraudulent.
Multiple verification outlets, including Jala Hoaks and Polda Jabar, have issued clarifications stating that the Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) is not currently distributing these funds. Similarly, RRI.co.id reported that claims of a new Rp600,000 BSU rollout are hoaxes.
The spread of this misinformation comes as workers seek financial stability amidst the 2026 Minimum Wage (UMP) adjustments and ongoing economic pressures. This situation underscores the vulnerability of the workforce to misleading financial promises during periods of economic transition.
Understanding the BSU Program
The Bantuan Subsidi Upah is a government initiative designed to maintain the purchasing power and overall welfare of workers. The program is managed by the Ministry of Manpower, which acts as the regulator and final verifier, while BPJS Ketenagakerjaan provides the necessary validated participant data to ensure the aid reaches the intended recipients.
According to Permenaker No. 5 of 2025, the subsidy consists of Rp300,000 per month for two months, paid as a single lump sum of Rp600,000. To qualify for the assistance, recipients must meet the following criteria:
- Be an Indonesian citizen, verified via a National Identification Number (NIK).
- Be an active participant in the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan social security program (specifically the Wage Earner/PU category) as of April 30, 2025.
- Earn a maximum monthly salary of Rp3,500,000.
- Not be a member of the Civil State Apparatus (ASN), the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), or the Indonesian National Police (Polri).
- Priority is given to workers who did not receive the Program Keluarga Harapan (PKH) prior to the BSU distribution.
Officials have cautioned that any recipient found to be ineligible must return the funds to the State Treasury.
How to Verify Eligibility
Workers are encouraged to utilize only official channels to check their status. The legitimate process involves visiting the official website at bsu.kemnaker.go.id, where users can enter their NIK and a security CAPTCHA to verify if they are listed as recipients.
For those who meet the requirements and hold accounts with Himbara banks—including BRI, BNI, Mandiri and BTN—or Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI), funds are transferred directly to their accounts.
