Amidst a legal dispute with acclaimed director Michael Bay, Cadillac unveiled its livery for the 2026 Formula 1 season during Super Bowl LX on Sunday night in San Francisco.

The design of the car, to be driven by Sergio Pérez and Valtteri Bottas, was simultaneously revealed in New York City, where the team utilized Times Square for a special event. The team was already in Bahrain for pre-season testing and a filming day.

The car’s design features a striking black and white color scheme, echoing elements of the luxury automotive brand’s logo.

Michael Bay Attempted to Halt Commercial

The debut of Cadillac’s Formula 1 visual identity was anything but quiet, as the commercial aired under the shadow of a lawsuit filed by filmmaker Michael Bay.

The director of The Rock, Pearl Harbor, and Armageddon claims Cadillac used his “protected visual aesthetic” without consent in the Super Bowl spot. Despite Bay’s legal efforts to block the ad, the team moved forward with its ambitious launch strategy. As the lights of Times Square in New York City projected the new car livery to thousands, the team was already operating from Bahrain, where Pérez and Bottas are preparing for pre-season testing.

Cadillac will reveal images from the Bahrain track on Monday following a filming day with Sergio Pérez and Valtteri Bottas.
