A Call of Duty game could be heading to the Nintendo Switch 2, according to a recent discovery. The potential arrival of the popular franchise on Nintendo hardware represents a significant development in the ongoing console wars and the accessibility of major game titles.
According to Video Games Chronicle (VGC), a leaker known as “@realityuk” reportedly found references to Nintendo platforms within the Call of Duty game code.

The leaked screenshot appears to show Nintendo listed alongside code for other major platforms, including Xbox and PlayStation. This discovery fuels speculation about a potential port of the franchise to Nintendo’s next-generation console.
The code also includes references to Ubisoft Connect, likely due to the availability of certain Activision titles, including Modern Warfare 2 and Modern Warfare 3, through Ubisoft+ Premium streaming service starting in last year.
The leaker suggests this indicates an announcement is “imminent,” potentially coinciding with Nintendo’s next wave of news. While the exact timing remains uncertain, the discovery has generated considerable excitement among fans.
It is currently unknown which titles in the Call of Duty series might appear on the Nintendo Switch 2. However, Black Ops 7 and the free-to-play battle royale game Warzone are considered the most likely candidates.
A Long-Anticipated Port
The latest reports regarding a potential Call of Duty release on the Nintendo Switch 2 should come as no surprise. Microsoft and Nintendo entered into a binding ten-year agreement in 2023.
At the time, Microsoft Vice Chairman and President Brad Smith pledged to bring Call of Duty games to Nintendo platforms.
The games were promised to launch “on the same day as on Xbox, with full feature and content parity,” as part of an ambition to deliver “long-term equal access to Call of Duty on other gaming platforms.”
The announcement came amid an impending lawsuit from the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC), which argued that Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard – the owner of Call of Duty – would violate U.S. antitrust laws.
The FTC later dropped the case, and the massive $75.4 billion acquisition was completed on October 13, 2023.
While Microsoft seemingly missed the opportunity to release Black Ops 7 to the Nintendo Switch 2 simultaneously with Xbox, an official announcement regarding a port would still represent a step toward fulfilling that earlier commitment.
