Canva is rapidly evolving and solidifying its position as a major player in the online creative tools market. The Australian platform, once viewed as a simple alternative to professional suites, is now demonstrating key indicators that place it in a different category.

Driven by double-digit growth, increased monetization, and the deep integration of artificial intelligence, the company is scaling up and redefining its position in the global design market.

265 Million Monthly Users, Including 31 Million Paid Subscribers

As of late 2025, Canva reports over 265 million monthly active users, with more than 31 million subscribed to a paid offering. This user base has enabled the company to reach $4 billion in annual recurring revenue (ARR), according to figures communicated to TechCrunch. This growth underscores the increasing demand for accessible and powerful design tools.

The momentum continues, with the platform recording a 20% increase in users year-over-year. While North America remains its primary market, Canva is strengthening its international presence, including offering reduced subscription rates in select emerging countries.

The B2B segment is likewise thriving, with enterprise accounts of 25 seats or more showing 100% growth to reach $500 million in ARR. This evolution demonstrates an increasingly structured utilize within organizations, extending beyond independent creators and marketing teams.

AI Fuels Growth and Becomes a Latest Acquisition Channel

While Canva initially built its success on ease of use, artificial intelligence is now at the heart of its strategy since April of last year. Its AI-powered tool for creating mini-applications and websites already has over 10 million monthly active users. The integration of AI reflects a broader trend of democratizing access to sophisticated creative capabilities.

However, the most interesting development is occurring in distribution, with large language models (LLMs) like OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic increasingly redirecting users to Canva when they request assistance with tasks like creating presentations or designing logos.

Canva indicates that traffic from LLMs now represents a double-digit percentage of its acquisitions, such as on ChatGPT, where more than 26 million conversations have involved the Canva application. This shift highlights how AI assistants are becoming key entry points for software applications.

This paradigm shift is transforming AI assistants into genuine gateways to software. Where Google search historically dominated acquisition, chatbots are now becoming a strategic lever…

Increased Pressure on Adobe

With $4 billion in revenue and an estimated valuation of $42 billion during its latest secondary operation, Canva is establishing itself as a credible competitor to Adobe. While the American publisher retains the advantage in advanced professional use cases, Canva is capturing a significant share of the non-designer and SME markets.

Canva aims to evolve from a design platform with AI tools to an AI platform that integrates design tools. This strategic inversion could fundamentally reshape the creative sector…
