A car went off the road in the Bjerkaker area of Tromsøya on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, prompting a response from emergency services.
Authorities say a woman and a young child were inside the vehicle when it left the roadway in a residential neighborhood.
Emergency crews arrived at the scene around 5:25 p.m. Local time.
“Both individuals involved are being examined by ambulance and a doctor who are en route to the location,” police stated.

Transported to Hospital
Police reported that both occupants were transported to the University Hospital of North Norway (UNN) for evaluation. The extent of their injuries remains unknown, but authorities said they were initially considered serious enough to warrant transfer to a trauma center.
As of 5:50 p.m., investigators were still working to determine the cause of the crash.
Both individuals were transported from the scene by ambulance.
“Both individuals have been sent to the trauma center,” police announced at 6:00 p.m.
“The extent of the injuries is still unknown, but the reason they were sent to the trauma center is that it was considered serious.”
At 7:00 p.m., police announced they were investigating the possibility of impaired driving.
“Police are opening a case against a female driver.”
Police have seized the driver’s license and collected evidence.
Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash, which occurred on Kveldrovegen around 5:20 p.m., to contact them at 02800. The investigation is ongoing, and this incident underscores the potential dangers of driving in residential areas.
