“I still find that kind of performance terrible,”

“I only got through an episode of De Wereld Draait Door if I took a beta-blocker beforehand. I still find that kind of performance terrible,” Carice van Houten revealed. The stress of live television isn’t new for the actress; even in her earlier career as a guest on Barend & Van Dorp, she became so nervous that she consumed an entire container of nuts, which she estimated were “probably three years ancient.”

Van Houten finds acting more comfortable. “When I play a role, I can somehow hide behind a character.” More recently, she has also begun hosting her own program, A Beautiful Mess, though presenting presents its own professional challenges. “The presenting went well, but A Beautiful Mess is also a weight-loss competition, and when someone was sent home for the first time, I actually cried,” she said.

Van Houten and Kees van der Spek became better acquainted before this interview, as he appeared in a new online series with her. In the video, the actress shared that she is highly fond of her co-star.
