Spring Training continues to heat up, with several Venezuelan players making an impact in exhibition games. Carlos Rodríguez, who plays for the Navegantes del Magallanes, is looking to carry his strong performance into the 2026 season with the Padres of San Diego.

San Diego Taking Notice

The relaxed atmosphere of Spring Training allows players vying for roster spots to showcase their abilities. Carlos Rodríguez appears to be doing just that, aiming for a breakout 2026 with his latest organization.

This marks Rodríguez’s sixth Spring Training, but this year feels different as he pushes for his first Major League debut. Through three games, he’s become one of San Diego’s hottest hitters, recording a hit in each contest.

So far, Carlos Rodríguez has four hits in seven at-bats, giving him a .571 batting average – currently the third-highest on the team. He’s also added an RBI and a double to his impressive start.

Rodríguez signed a Minor League contract with the Padres, meaning he’ll need to stand out during Spring Training to earn a spot on the roster. Currently, the outfield appears set with Ramón Laureano, Jackson Merrill, and Fernando Tatis Jr., although Bryce Johnson has an advantage as the fourth outfielder this season.
