Carlos Zambrano’s time with Alianza Lima has come to an end following allegations of sexual abuse during a pre-season trip to Uruguay, the club confirmed on February 11, 2026. The Peruvian side reached a mutual agreement to terminate the defender’s contract, bringing an end to a three-year stint with the ‘blanquiazul’.

The decision follows a formal complaint filed by a 22-year-old Argentine woman during Alianza Lima’s pre-season camp in Uruguay. Zambrano, along with teammates Sergio Peña and Miguel Trauco, were implicated in the allegations, leading to their initial suspension and now, Zambrano’s definitive departure. Infobae reports that Zambrano initially attempted to negotiate terms to remain with the club, but was ultimately unsuccessful.

“Carlos Zambrano no tiene conciencia de la gravedad de sus actos. No se da cuenta de la gravedad de sus actos….” Eddie Fleischman revealed that Zambrano was determined to stay with Alianza Lima, but the club’s leadership firmly rejected his efforts. The club’s statement confirmed the agreement, stating, “The Club Alianza Lima informs its fans and the public that the footballer Carlos Zambrano has officially ceased to belong to our institution after an agreement was reached between both parties.”

The departures of Zambrano, Peña, and Trauco all stem from the same allegations, marking a significant disruption for Alianza Lima. Soy Independiente details that the club has reached a financial agreement with Zambrano, reportedly covering between 40 and 50 percent of his existing contract. The case involving Zambrano, Peña, and Trauco has been transferred to Uruguayan authorities for investigation, according to the Agencia Peruana de Noticias.

While the club did not disclose the exact financial details of the settlement, reports suggest a substantial sum was paid to facilitate Zambrano’s exit. This move allows Alianza Lima to move forward, though the scandal undoubtedly leaves a mark on the club’s reputation as they prepare for the upcoming Liga 1 season.
