Mexican television is mourning the loss of a key figure behind the scenes of beloved classics “El Chavo del 8” and “El Chapulín Colorado.”

Carmen Ochoa, though not a public face, was instrumental in bringing the iconic characters of Roberto Gómez Bolaños, known as Chespirito, to life.

“We deeply regret the passing of Carmen Ochoa. An extraordinary professional, a key piece behind the cameras. Producer, director, and great friend. Thank you, Carmen, for your talent, your dedication, and your warmth. Your legacy will forever remain in our neighborhood. Rest in peace,” read a statement released by the indicate’s team.

While she didn’t receive the same recognition as the on-screen cast of “El Chavo del 8,” Ochoa was a vital component of the show’s success.

Carmen Ochoa, a television producer and director, collaborated with Chespirito and successfully translated his ideas into television hits.

Ochoa worked alongside Roberto Gómez Bolaños from 1973 to 1985, producing his programs. The news of her death was shared on Chespirito’s official account, highlighting her creativity and contributions to the shows that resonated with generations of viewers. “El Chavo del Ocho” remains one of the most successful television programs in Latin American history, captivating audiences long after its original run.

“This was our last breakfast together, may the memory of our pleasant conversations not fade, I’m going to miss you Carmelita. So many memories when you were Chespirito’s producer. A hug to your children,” shared Edgar Vivar.

The Mexican series ‘El Chavo del Ocho’ has been one of the most successful television programs in Latin America for years.

Launched as an independent series in 1973, after initially appearing as a sketch on the ‘Chespirito’ show, the characters enjoyed widespread popularity throughout its run, which concluded in 1980, and continued to be beloved even after the iconic program ended.
