A man is being sought in connection with the shooting death of a woman in Cascavel, Brazil, on Saturday, March 21, 2026. The incident, which occurred in the Interlagos neighborhood, has prompted a police investigation and a public appeal for information.

Leonardo Davi Amancio Ribeiro de Souza is wanted for the homicide of Janaina Teixeira Fogaça, 28, according to authorities. Police released a photo of Souza on Monday, March 23, 2026, asking for the public’s help in locating him. The Civil Police are leading the investigation.

The shooting took place on Travessa Ipanema after a reported argument escalated into a physical altercation involving multiple people. Witnesses told police the dispute began between two women and included their respective friends. Souza allegedly made threats and physically assaulted those involved before leaving the scene with a companion.

The pair returned shortly after in a vehicle, and multiple shots were fired, both into the air and toward the group. One of the bullets struck Fogaça in the face. She was transported to the UPA Brasília hospital, where she was pronounced dead. According to initial reports, first responders attempted to revive her, but were unsuccessful.

Authorities recovered 14 spent shell casings at the scene. Police are asking anyone with information about Souza’s whereabouts to contact them through the following channels: 197 (Civil Police), 181 (Disque-Denúncia), or by phone at (45) 99909-3842 or (45) 3301-5700. The investigation remains ongoing, and officials hope public assistance will lead to Souza’s arrest.

Three women were also detained for possible involvement in the incident, though their specific roles remain unclear. Authorities are investigating the extent of their participation.

The case highlights the ongoing challenges of gun violence and the complexities of interpersonal disputes that can escalate to deadly outcomes.
