Catherine O’Hara, the celebrated Canadian actress known for her iconic roles in comedies like “Home Alone” and “Schitt’s Creek,” passed away January 30 at the age of 71.

O’Hara first gained widespread recognition for her portrayal of Kate McCallister, Kevin’s mother, in the beloved “Home Alone” films. She continued to build a prolific career, taking on memorable parts in television series such as “Schitt’s Creek” and “The Studio.”

According to the Associated Press, O’Hara’s death was the result of pulmonary embolism with underlying cancer of the bowel.

Se og Hør reports that an ambulance was called to O’Hara’s Los Angeles home on the last Friday of January following a medical emergency. She was transported to a hospital where her condition was described as serious.

The star was pronounced dead a few hours later. Her passing marks a loss for the comedy world and leaves behind a legacy of memorable performances that have resonated with audiences for decades.
