A Swiss woman who lost her brother to a serial killer four decades ago is now dedicating her life to helping others overcome trauma. Céline Puippe, a resident of Valais, Switzerland, is offering support through a new podcast and specialized yoga program, hoping to provide a path toward healing for those who have experienced profound emotional shock.

Puippe’s brother was a victim of Michel Peiry, known as “the sadique de Romont,” in 1987, when she was just eight years old. The tragedy unfolded at a time when mental health resources were limited, and the family was largely left to cope on their own. “My parents and I, with friends, we managed alone,” Puippe explained.

Growing up in the aftermath of her brother’s murder, Puippe experienced a traumatic shift in her personality and was later diagnosed with chronic post-traumatic stress. She believes that openly discussing emotional wounds is crucial to recovery, a conviction that led her to create the podcast “En vie” (Alive).

The podcast features interviews with individuals who have faced adversity and successfully navigated their way toward healing. “‘En vie’ therefore talks about emotional shocks and rebirth,” according to reporting from Rhône FM. Puippe also developed a specialized yoga and trauma program, recognizing the power of physical practice in releasing stored emotional pain.

“At the age of 8, I became a collateral victim of a serial killer,” Puippe said, highlighting the long-lasting impact of the crime on her life. The case underscores the often-overlooked suffering of family members left behind in the wake of violent acts.

After years of seeking to understand the human condition, Puippe has herself overcome the trauma. She emphasizes the importance of acknowledging and accepting emotions as a vital step in the healing process.
