Cēsu “Lekrings” has officially secured a place in the Superfinal after a grueling seven-game battle in the ELVI floorball league semifinals. Lekrings triumphed in the deciding seventh match with a 6:3 victory over Kocēnu “Rubene” at the Kocēni sports house. Bruno Beķeris led the offensive charge for the winners, netting two goals to help clinch the series.
Reflecting on the victory, Beķeris attributed the team’s success to their mental resilience and the strategic approach of the coaching staff. Beķeris noted that character and the coaches’ understanding of the players were the primary keys to their achievement. He emphasized that “First, there is character, second—the coaches’ understanding of us,” stating these factors were essential in navigating the high-stakes series.
The road to the Superfinal was a volatile seesaw of momentum. Kocēnu “Rubene” initially appeared to be in control, taking a 2-0 lead with two victories on their home turf. However, Lekrings responded with three consecutive wins to position Rubene on the brink of elimination.
The drama peaked on March 29, 2026, when Rubene dominated in Cēsis to force the final game. In a commanding 11:5 performance, Rubene leveled the series at 3:3. Kristers Babris was the standout performer of that match, recording three points (two goals and one assist) and being named the best player. Rubene’s effort was bolstered by Mikum Edvardam Ķikuts, Gustavam Siliņam, Jēkabam Keišam, and Pāvelam Semjonovam, who each contributed two points to the cause.
Despite Rubene’s late-series surge, Lekrings maintained their composure in the final showdown to secure their spot in the championship round, extending their season with a hard-earned victory.
