Alleged Board Member of Chihuahua Cattlemen’s Union Killed in Targeted Shooting
A 52-year-ancient man was fatally shot on April 8, 2026, in the La Cantera area of Chihuahua, in an attack that has drawn significant attention due to the victim’s alleged ties to the state’s agricultural leadership.
The victim, identified as Gerardo L. P., is unofficially reported to have been a member of the board of directors for the Unión Ganadera Regional de Chihuahua (UGRCH). According to early reports, L. P. Had served as the organization’s First Vocal since January 2025.
The ambush took place as L. P. Was attempting to enter the Puente de Alcántara residential development on Puente de Piedra Avenue. While operating a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, he was intercepted by two armed suspects who fired at least 14 shots, killing him at the scene.
The force of the attack caused the vehicle to crash into the entrance of the residential area. During the subsequent forensic sweep, authorities recovered 9mm shell casings from the site.
Following the shooting, the two assailants fled the scene on foot. Law enforcement officials have not yet released information regarding the identity or current location of the suspects.
While the investigation into the motive for the crime remains ongoing, authorities have not officially confirmed the victim’s professional role within the UGRCH. The incident underscores the persistent security challenges and volatility facing regional figures within Chihuahua’s livestock sector.
