Chilean households with lower incomes will soon learn if they qualify for a temporary government benefit designed to lower electricity bills. The program aims to provide financial relief as energy costs remain a concern for many families.

The fourth round of applications for the subsidy began in November 2025, and will cover the first six months of 2026. Those approved will notice discounts applied to their bills starting this month.

How Much Can Be Discounted on Electricity Bills?

The amount of the electricity subsidy depends on the number of people living in the household.

Beneficiaries will receive discounts covering the months of January through June 2026, distributed in six monthly installments beginning in February.

Key Dates for Beneficiaries

  • February 12, 2026: Results of the fourth application round will be published.

  • February 12-19, 2026: The deadline to file an appeal of the decision.

  • February 12 – March 5, 2026: Households can update their address information.

  • February 12 – June 2026: Beneficiaries have the option to decline the subsidy.

Who Is Eligible to Apply?

Those who are not approved in this round may still be eligible to apply for the next, provided they meet the following requirements:

  • Applicants must be over the age of 18.

  • Applicants must be a customer – either a tenant or homeowner – of an electricity provider and be current on their bill payments as of December 22, 2025.

  • Applicants must be among the 40% most vulnerable households according to the Social Registry of Households (RSH).

Households with a member registered on the Patient Electrodependence Registry are eligible for the benefit even if they do not fall within the most vulnerable income bracket, according to program guidelines.
