Company Rewards Employees with $8.7 Million Cash Giveaway

A Chinese company specializing in lifting equipment and electrical cables celebrated a successful year by distributing approximately $8.7 million New Taiwan Dollars (roughly $270,000 USD) to its employees. The company, Henan Mine Crane Co., Ltd., reported profits exceeding $12.4 million NTD last year and opted to share approximately two-thirds of those earnings with its workforce.
The annual event featured a staggering display: 60 million RMB (approximately $8.7 million NTD) in cash spread across a 70-meter-long table, allowing employees a limited time to count and claim their share. The unusual practice has sparked widespread attention and envy online.
Employees were divided into groups based on their tenure with the company, receiving five, ten, or fifteen minutes to count the money. The cash was then verified by counting machines, with a penalty of ten bills deducted for any discrepancies. According to reports, one employee reportedly collected 89,000 RMB (approximately $41,000 USD) within ten minutes.
The company’s founder, Cui Peijun, playfully announced an additional 20,000 RMB (approximately $9,200 USD) bonus for anyone who won a washing machine in the raffle, while jokingly questioning the purchasing department about rising gold prices. He also indicated plans to include employees’ families in future events, if conditions allow.
Cui Peijun explained that the company aims to alleviate some of the financial burdens faced by employees, such as mortgage and car loan payments. The company is also currently hiring for 63 positions.
