Dense fog has prompted weather alerts across portions of northern China, impacting visibility and travel conditions. Authorities in Hebei province issued a yellow fog warning on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, as conditions deteriorated.
The warning, issued by the Cangzhou Meteorological Observatory in Hebei province, indicates that visibility in some areas has been reduced to less than 500 meters (approximately 1,640 feet), according to reports from Central Meteorological Station. Similar conditions are similarly affecting the Bohai and Yellow Seas.
The fog is expected to linger, creating hazardous conditions for drivers and potentially disrupting shipping and air travel. Sina Finance reports the fog extends to areas with visibility below 500 meters.
Further south, the city of Zibo in Shandong province has also issued a yellow fog warning, with similarly reduced visibility. The region is also bracing for cooler temperatures and rainfall later this week, as noted by SOHU.
Cangzhou, a prefecture-level city in Hebei province, is located in the eastern part of the North China Plain and borders Tianjin to the north and Shandong province to the south. The city is a significant transportation hub, serving as a southern gateway to Beijing and Tianjin.
