Chinese Athletes Strike Gold at Milan Winter Olympics
Su Yiming and Xu Mengtao have secured gold medals for China at the 25th Winter Olympics in Milan, Italy. Su Yiming triumphed in the men’s snowboard big air competition, while Xu Mengtao won the women’s freestyle skiing aerials event on February 18th, local time.
The achievements were met with congratulations from Chen Yiqin, a member of the State Council, who delivered a message on behalf of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the State Council to the Chinese Sports Delegation. The message read, “On the occasion of the Spring Festival, we are delighted to learn that Chinese athlete Su Yiming has won the gold medal in the men’s snowboard big air competition at the 25th Winter Olympics, and Xu Mengtao has successfully defended her title in the women’s freestyle skiing aerials. This demonstrates a spirit of tenacious fighting and courageous striving, bringing honor to the country and the people.”
Chen Yiqin’s message continued, “On behalf of the Party Central Committee and the State Council, I extend our warm congratulations to the award-winning athletes and the entire Chinese Sports Delegation! We hope that the Chinese Sports Delegation will vigorously promote the Chinese sports spirit, the Beijing Winter Olympics spirit, and the Olympic spirit, continue to work hard and achieve even greater success, fully demonstrate the style of the new era of ice and snow athletes, and strive to contribute to building a strong sports nation and advancing Chinese-style modernization.” The delegation was also wished a successful completion of all events, achieving both athletic and moral success.
