Beijing, February 27, 2026 – State Councilor Chen Yiqin today visited the China Disabled Persons’ Sports Management Center to oversee preparations for the upcoming Milan Winter Paralympics. She met with the Chinese delegation set to compete and delivered an encouraging address, emphasizing the importance of representing the nation with pride.

Chen Yiqin toured ice sports training facilities, observing an ice hockey practice and speaking with athletes from alpine skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, and biathlon. She inquired about training progress, injury prevention measures, and logistical support, urging the athletes to give their all and strive for peak performance. She likewise directed relevant units to provide comprehensive support, enhance risk management, and ensure the team’s safety.

The State Councilor stressed that the Chinese Paralympic team must remember their mission to fight for and bring honor to the country. She called on them to embody the spirit of Chinese sports, the Beijing Winter Olympics, and the Paralympic movement – demonstrating resilience, self-improvement, and a positive image of China’s disabled athletes. She urged the team to pursue not only athletic success but also moral and stylistic excellence, aiming for a double harvest of sporting achievement and spiritual enrichment.

Chen Yiqin also encouraged the athletes to engage in broad exchanges, foster friendships, and share the stories of China and its disabled athletes, contributing to the building of a community with a shared future for mankind. The Paralympics are a key showcase for inclusivity and athletic determination, and the Chinese delegation aims to make a significant impact on the world stage.
