A popular Chinese social media influencer, known as “Wang Zha Abla,” passed away after experiencing a brain hemorrhage during a live broadcast, according to reports. The incident highlights the potential health risks associated with demanding work schedules and the growing phenomenon of “digital labor.”

Wang Yefei, 39, a mother, suddenly clutched her head and neck and requested assistance from those around her while live-streaming, according to reports. She asked for emergency services to be contacted. Despite receiving immediate medical attention at a hospital, she could not be saved.

WORKING UP TO 10 HOURS A DAY

The cause of death was determined to be a “brain stem hemorrhage,” as reported by local news outlets Jimu News and VNExpress International. Those close to the influencer indicated that she had been working at an extremely fast pace recently, often live-streaming for 7 to 10 hours each day. She managed all aspects of her business, from sales to shipping, alone, and reportedly slept only 4 to 5 hours per night.

Prior to the tragic event, Yefei had been experiencing severe headaches for several weeks and frequently used pain relievers to manage the discomfort. Her sudden death has sparked widespread grief on social media and ignited discussions about the pressures of “digital labor.” The influencer had approximately 130,000 followers and primarily sold women’s clothing during her broadcasts.
