Construction Worker Dies Following Rooftop Fall in Bejuma, Carabobo

A construction accident claimed the life of a 43-year-old man on the afternoon of April 7, 2026, in the municipality of Bejuma, Carabobo. The victim, identified as José Daniel Aponte Niño, died instantly after falling from a rooftop while performing masonry perform.

The incident occurred at the Don Juan building, located in the Santa María sector at the intersection of Calle Vargas and Avenida Los Fundadores. According to early reports, Aponte, a resident of the El Rincón sector, was utilizing an electric winch to transport construction materials to the top of the structure.

Authorities are currently investigating the specific cause of the accident, though preliminary findings suggest a mechanical failure in the lifting system. This malfunction reportedly caused Aponte to lose his balance and fall approximately eight meters, impacting the pavement frontally.

Emergency teams from the Sistema Integrado de Protección Civil and Bomberos Carabobo responded to the scene to provide aid, but they confirmed that Aponte showed no signs of life upon their arrival. The Delegación del Cicpc Bejuma and Senamecf also attended the site to conduct the recovery of the body and launch a formal investigation into the equipment’s failure.

This tragic event highlights the persistent dangers associated with high-altitude construction work and the critical necessity of reliable safety equipment on job sites.
