Crimson Desert: AMD FSR 4 Issues & Fixes – Image Quality & Rain Glitches

Players of Crimson Desert on PC utilizing an AMD Radeon RX 9000 series graphics card with FSR 4 may be experiencing visual quality issues. Reports indicate that graphics can appear worse than native resolution, or even other upscaling solutions, with the problem sometimes impacting visibility and hindering gameplay.

Image Quality Concerns

As of March 20, 2026, there is no official fix for the issue. Technical analysis points to a problem with the implementation of “Subpixel Jitter” technology. This flaw is particularly noticeable in static scenes, where the AI fails to properly reconstruct frames, resulting in a shaky and detail-poor image that obscures the game’s visual assets.

“Rain Distortion” Glitch and Loss of Visibility

Currently, the most severe problem for FSR 4 users occurs during rainy weather, where the image suffers from blurriness and severe distortions—and in some cases, the rain completely disappears from the screen! This not only destroys the sense of realism but also makes navigating the world extremely frustrating, and potentially impossible in harsh conditions.

Temporary Workarounds

Until Pearl Abyss releases an update—note that today’s initial update did not address the issue—players can employ these solutions to mitigate the problems:

  • Navigate to Settings > Graphics > Upscaling, and switch from FSR 4 to FSR 3.1. This may result in a loss of some frames, but will provide a more stable image—especially during rain.
  • As rainy weather significantly stresses performance, your system may struggle at native resolution. In this case, FSR 3.1 is a better balanced option than Native.
  • If you prefer the performance of FSR 4 in clear weather and don’t aim for to constantly switch settings, simply sleeping or using a campfire to change the time can often stop the rain when Cliff awakens, temporarily resolving the issue.
  • Installing the Adrenalin 26.3.1 WHQL driver, which supports the game, may help resolve the issue for some users.

these are technical issues expected to be resolved soon, but until then… you may have to dodge the rain instead of enjoying it!
