Snocaps Debut Album Explores Sibling Creativity and Musical Evolution

The Crutchfield sisters, Allison and Katie, have released their debut album as Snocaps, a project that blends their individual musical styles and revisits their shared creative origins.

The album, released yesterday, October 31, 2025, marks a reunion of sorts for the twins, who first gained recognition with their punk band P.S. Eliot over a decade ago. Since then, Allison has established herself with the indie-rock band Swearin’, while Katie has garnered acclaim for her Americana work as Waxahatchee. Snocaps seamlessly integrates Allison’s melodic sensibilities with Katie’s patient vocal approach, supported by bandmates MJ Lenderman and Brad Cook, who also collaborated on Waxahatchee’s 2024 album ‘Tigers Blood.’

The album features a diverse range of sounds, from the slow-burn intensity of Katie’s “Doom” to the fast-paced energy of Allison’s “Over Our Heads.” A standout track, “Heathcliff,” draws comparisons to The Go-Betweens, while “Wasteland” showcases Katie’s alt-country influences. As Bruce Springsteen once observed, “A new self can get in, but the old selves can’t ever get out,” a sentiment that resonates with the album’s exploration of personal growth and enduring creative connections. This project highlights the increasing trend of established artists exploring collaborative side projects to broaden their artistic horizons.

Snocaps is scheduled to perform a limited number of shows before potentially disbanding, mirroring similar ventures by artists like R.E.M. and Kim Deal. The album is available now via Anti- Records and is being praised for its low-stakes, high-quality approach to indie rock. Officials have stated the band intends to focus on their individual projects following the tour.
