CSKA Sofia to Play Euro Games at Vasil Levski Stadium in 2026/27

CSKA Sofia has designated Vasil Levski National Stadium as its primary venue for European competitions in the 2026/27 season, according to reports. The club has also listed its fresh Bulgarian Army Stadium as a secondary option in documents submitted to UEFA for a European license.

Who will become champion of Bulgaria this season?

The reason for this decision is that the new Bulgarian Army Stadium is still under construction and will require inspection and a Category 4 license from UEFA before it can host European matches. Officials anticipate the inspection process will be completed by the end of August.

CSKA Sofia will play its qualifying round matches at Vasil Levski Stadium. Should the new stadium receive approval and the team advance, home matches will then be moved to the Bulgarian Army Stadium.

CSKA Sofia’s primary goal remains winning the Bulgarian Cup, which provides a qualification spot for the Europa League. The tournament’s first qualifying round matches are scheduled for July 9th, and 16th.

Should CSKA qualify for the Europa Conference League, they will begin their campaign in the second preliminary round, with matches scheduled for July 23rd and 30th. The main phases of all three European tournaments are set to begin in early September.

Despite trailing league leader Levski by 13 points, CSKA Sofia remains mathematically in contention for the domestic title. Should they qualify for European competition through the league, they would also begin in the second qualifying round – July 21/22 and 28/29.

CSKA Sofia’s last European match at Vasil Levski Stadium was a 1-0 victory over Basel in the Conference League playoff round on August 18, 2022.

Their most recent European home game, however, was a 2-0 loss to Sepsi, played at the Bulgarian Army Stadium a year later.
