Cupra Born Facelift: Android Auto & Shark Nose Design Revealed

The Android operating system is increasingly becoming a standard feature in vehicles from the Volkswagen Group. The latest model to adopt the system is the updated Cupra Born, which also receives a redesigned exterior, interior refinements, and a revised range of available versions.

The Cupra Born facelift includes exterior, interior, and mechanical updates. The vehicle’s exterior design now aligns more closely with the latest models from the Spanish brand. A redesigned front grille, resembling a shark’s nose, is a key feature, along with new triangular air intakes positioned before the wheels. The model also boasts new headlights with a triangular graphic, with optional Matrix LED technology available.

The rear bumper has also been updated, replacing the central logo on the tailgate with an LED light strip connecting the taillights and featuring an illuminated Cupra logo in the middle. A more prominent rear diffuser and other design elements further enhance the vehicle’s appearance. New color options, including Timanfaya Grey, are available, along with new designs for the 19 and 20-inch wheel options.

A significant change is the switch to an infotainment system based on the Android platform. This is visually apparent through a different system graphic and is accompanied by a substantially larger instrument panel. The instrument panel now features a 10.25-inch display, creating a more balanced gaze alongside the 12.9-inch infotainment screen. Cupra has also increased the use of recycled materials, including SEAQUAL Yarn made from plastics recovered from the ocean.

The engine lineup has been modified, particularly in the base model. It now features a new LFP battery with a net capacity of 58 kWh and an electric motor producing 140 kW. Above this is the Endurance version, equipped with a 79 kWh battery and a 170 kW electric motor. The range-topping model will again be the AWD VZ version, delivering 240 kW and the same battery as the Endurance. Both of these higher-spec versions are expected to achieve a range of approximately 600 km (373 miles) according to WLTP testing. The updates position Cupra to compete effectively in the evolving electric vehicle market.
