The trading card game market, long dominated by established titles like Magic: The Gathering and Pokémon TCG, is seeing increased competition as new players enter the space. Recent successes with Star Wars: Unlimited and Disney Lorcana suggest a growing appetite for collectible card games, and now CD Projekt Red is aiming to capitalize on that trend.
On Tuesday, March 17, 2026, CD Projekt Red, in partnership with WeirdCo, launched a Kickstarter campaign for the Cyberpunk Trading Card Game. The project quickly surpassed its $5 million funding goal within hours, setting a new record for the most-funded trading card game on Kickstarter. As of this writing, the campaign has raised $7.5 million (approximately 160 million Czech Koruna) with support from nearly 9,000 backers, and still has 29 days remaining.
The game’s popularity is likely fueled by the existing fanbase of the Cyberpunk 2077 video game and the associated animated series, potentially attracting players from the anime community, currently captivated by titles like One Piece. Gameplay centers around traditional duels designed to last around 15 minutes, where players compete not only through damage but too by completing objectives and building reputation.
Decks must contain between 40 and 50 cards, with a maximum of three copies of any single card. Players build their decks around three chosen “legends,” each possessing a unique ability. During a turn, players can either deploy units and equipment by spending resources or activate one of their legends. Dice rolls introduce an element of chance, determining the objectives players receive. Attacking an opponent and successfully avoiding a block allows a player to steal an objective, bringing them closer to the win condition of collecting six objectives.
The game features seven rarity levels, with the most desirable cards receiving special treatments. Players can begin with a starter deck of 43 cards, and expand their collections with booster packs containing 12 cards each: 7 common, 3 uncommon, and 2 rare or better.
Two starter decks are available for 1,050 Czech Koruna, while a single display containing 36 booster packs costs 3,600 Czech Koruna. A combination of two starter decks and one display is priced at 7,400 Czech Koruna, with more expensive tiers offering additional items like exclusive dice, metal cards, and playmats.
Shipping costs to receive the Cyberpunk Trading Card Game range from 200 to 530 Czech Koruna, with taxes added to the final price. Depending on the chosen tier, some products may ship as early as the third quarter of 2026, with others arriving by the complete of the year.
