Dacia has unveiled what is effectively its most expensive model globally – a limited-edition vehicle priced at €46,990. The announcement reflects a growing trend among automakers to offer highly customized, premium versions of popular models.

Rapid Customization Process

The model, dubbed the Dacia Bigster Extreme TCe 130 4WD Redust Offroad, features a 1.2-liter gasoline engine producing 130 horsepower and all-wheel drive. It’s equipped with 16-inch alloy wheels and a range of modifications, including a specialized Redust suspension system – a leading international German manufacturer – a stainless steel sports exhaust system, cruise control, cornering lights, tire pressure monitoring, DAB radio, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.

The vehicle, produced in October 2025, underwent its modifications by German specialists in under a month, demonstrating an efficient customization process.

Further enhancements include a raised chassis from Dutch brand Koni, increasing ground clearance by approximately 40 millimeters for off-road capability, with specially tuned shock absorbers.

Premium Features and Durability

Additional premium features, largely sourced from Redust, include a roof rack with a carrying capacity of up to 100 kilograms, LED front and rear work lights, fender extensions, all-season General Grabber tires, a satin bronze tint, a luggage compartment separator, a set of floor mats and aluminum door sills, and aluminum sports pedals with a non-slip surface.

The durable coating applied to Redust components provides protection against harsh road and weather conditions, corrosion, and scratches. The German manufacturer utilizes ABS plastic (acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene) for body parts and design details, combining functionality, aesthetics, durability, and impact resistance.

Building on Previous Successes

“We didn’t have to spend a long time on the Dacia Bigster, as the vehicle is very close technically and conceptually to its predecessor, the Dacia Duster,” said Eugen Maier, manager of the German company Carpoint, which carried out the Bigster’s transformation. “Consequently, only minor modifications to existing components were necessary, and the overall effort was relatively manageable.”

“The situation was quite different with our first Redust project, based on the Dacia Duster. That project was a real challenge for us. We worked on its development for more than a year. The design underwent several revisions, and many details had to be adjusted repeatedly to comply with TÜV standards and, at the same time, achieve a coherent and high-quality look that matched both our design philosophy and the character of the vehicle.”

“This phase involved many sleepless nights and numerous trips across Europe until we finally reached the stage of series production. Ultimately, the effort paid off: Redust today represents an exclusive, unique, and unparalleled conversion concept,” Maier added.

Bigster’s European Market Performance

Carpoint sells vehicles both as fully completed conversions and as customized projects tailored to individual customer requirements. Customers can also bring their own vehicles or have them delivered to partner companies for conversion.

The German company Carpoint has been operating in the market for over 15 years, both as a Dacia dealer and as a specialist in vehicle modifications.

According to a Renault statement from October 2025, the Bigster was the second best-selling compact SUV (C-SUV) in Europe on the retail segment, starting in June 2025, with 22,353 registrations in Q3 and over 39,700 since the beginning of 2025. From launch to early October 2025, the Bigster had recorded over 55,000 orders.

The Dacia Bigster was officially launched in Romania in early 2025, with the first orders placed in January 2025 and deliveries to customers beginning in spring 2025, with a starting price of €23,000 and four engine types. This new SUV, produced at the Mioveni plant and the largest vehicle in the company’s history, marked an important step for Dacia, being the first model with a complete hybrid range.
