The official music video for DARA’s song “Bangaranga,” which will represent Bulgaria at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, premiered last night.
Eurovision fans previously had a glimpse of DARA’s performance from the Bulgarian national selection final, but now “Bangaranga” has its official music video, published on the Eurovision YouTube channel. The video features not only the dynamic choreography DARA has become known for, but similarly the inclusion of *kukeri* – traditional Bulgarian performers representing ancient rituals and believed to ward off evil spirits – as a symbol of the country.
Within the first 12 hours of its release, the video garnered over 80,000 views, placing it among the most popular new releases. However, it’s still too early to predict how this will translate into votes in the final competition. DARA’s performance from the Bulgarian selection final already has over 1.6 million views.
The singer recently hinted on the official Eurovision podcast that she’s been working hard on the staging for her performance, promising a show that will be in her signature style – wild, dance-focused, and full of striking elements. She’s collaborating with some of the most experienced directors and designers, and anticipation is building to see the final result. This attention to detail underscores the growing sophistication of Eurovision performances.
This year’s contest will be held between May 12 and May 16 in Vienna, Austria, with DARA competing in the first semi-final.
