Former Australian Cricket Star David Warner Charged with Mid-Range Drink Driving
Former Australian Test cricketer David Warner is facing legal action after being charged with mid-range drink driving in Sydney’s east over the weekend.
The incident occurred on Sunday, April 5, 2026, around 5:30 p.m. On Malabar Road in Maroubra. According to reports, police were conducting random breath testing when a van allegedly stopped and parked just short of the testing site. Officers approached the vehicle and conducted a roadside test on the driver, who was later confirmed to be the 39-year-old Warner.
Following a positive roadside result, Warner was arrested and transported to the Maroubra Police Station. A second breathalyzer test allegedly returned a reading of 0.104, leading to the mid-range drink driving charge. Reports indicate the reading was over twice the legal limit.
Warner, who retired from international cricket in 2024, continues to be a prominent figure in the sport. He currently plays in the Sizeable Bash League and is leading the Karachi Kings in the 2026 Pakistan Super League. This legal development comes at a time when the former opener remains active in high-profile global T20 competitions.
The cricket legend is scheduled to appear in court in May to address the charges.
