Public health officials in several Brazilian municipalities have begun vaccinating adolescents against dengue fever, a mosquito-borne viral infection that can cause flu-like symptoms and, in severe cases, life-threatening complications.
The vaccination campaigns are currently underway in Xanxerê, where inoculations for individuals aged 10 to 14 years commenced on Monday, February 23, 2026, according to local authorities. Barra do Garças is too actively vaccinating against dengue, with the campaign initiated by the city’s health department, as reported by Araguaia NotÃcia.
The vaccination effort extends to other regions as well. The Health Department in Lagoa FM is currently administering the dengue vaccine, while GuaÃba has begun vaccinating children and adolescents between the ages of 9 and 14, according to reports. Canguçu is also offering the vaccine to individuals aged 10 to 14, as detailed by Jornal Tradição Regional.
These vaccination initiatives are crucial for controlling the spread of dengue fever, a disease that poses a significant public health challenge in many regions. The vaccine is a key tool in preventing infection and reducing the severity of illness when it does occur.
