Federico Dimarco is having a significant impact on Inter Milan’s season, contributing to numerous goals. However, the defender insists he won’t be satisfied until Inter secures a championship title.

Following their Champions League elimination at the hands of Bodo/Glimt, Inter returned to winning form in Serie A. Nerazzurri defeated Genoa 2-0 in a Serie A match at Giuseppe Meazza on Sunday, March 1, 2026.

Dimarco scored one goal in the contest, bringing his Serie A tally to six goals and 14 assists in 25 appearances this season.

According to Opta, Dimarco is only the second defender to be involved in at least 20 goals in a Serie A season since 2004/2005, following Massimo Oddo who recorded seven goals and 13 assists in 2005/2006.

Despite his impressive individual performance, Dimarco emphasized that personal accolades indicate little without team success. He stated that his goals and assists will be insignificant if Inter doesn’t lift a trophy at the end of the season.

“After that defeat, it was never going to be effortless, but this team always bounces back stronger,” Dimarco told Sky Sport Italia.

“Fatigue was starting to show in the second half, but we got the job done. Personally, it’s a good season, but it’s the team that matters. If my goals and assists don’t lead to a trophy, then they won’t mean much.”

“I’d rather have fewer goals and assists if it means we win the league,” he added.

The victory over Genoa extends Inter Milan’s lead in the Serie A title race. Cristian Chivu’s side now holds a 13-point advantage over AC Milan at the top of the Serie A standings.
