Disappointment Over Judges’ Appeals for Leadership Roles

In a move that leaves no room for competition, Judge Simona Marcu is poised to maintain her grip on the leadership of the National Institute of Magistracy. On Monday, April 6, 2026, the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM) officially published the candidate list, confirming that the former CSM member is running entirely unopposed for a new mandate.

The council didn’t stop at the list; they also released the judge’s managerial project, allowing a closer look at the vision for the institute’s future. This solo run highlights a significant consolidation of influence within the judicial administration.

While Marcu’s path is clear, the race for leadership positions across various courts, tribunals, and courts of appeal has been far more volatile. The competition saw 47 judges vying for top spots, creating a high-stakes environment where only a few emerged victorious. While two candidates managed to secure a perfect score of 10 during their managerial project interviews, the results were devastating for others: eight candidates failed to pass, and one opted to withdraw from the process entirely.

The drama continued even after the initial results were announced. Following a series of appeals, the outcome remained largely stagnant, offering little hope for those who fell short. Two rejected magistrates saw their scores tick upward slightly, but not enough to change their fate. Candidate A0043 saw a rise from 4.54 to 4.66, and candidate A0047 moved from 4.00 to 4.33. Despite these marginal gains, both remained below the mandatory passing threshold of 5, effectively ending their bids for leadership.

Beyond the courtroom power struggles, new legislative shifts are on the horizon. The Parliament is currently drafting new regulations specifically targeting parents with minor children who are active online shoppers, signaling a move toward tighter oversight of digital commerce for youth.

In other news, the legal and administrative landscape continues to evolve as “Lumea Infrastructurii” has released new footage from the construction site of a national premiere, adding a layer of industrial ambition to the current news cycle.
