Celebrity chef Donato De Santis has traded the heat of the kitchen for a more serene pace of life in his native Italy, following his recent departure from MasterChef Celebrity. The move comes as the renowned culinary figure seeks a break from the spotlight and a chance to reconnect with his roots.
De Santis has been sharing glimpses of his tranquil novel routine on social media, posting photos from the Puglia region where he’s enjoying leisurely strolls along the coast and a respite from the demands of television. The images offer a stark contrast to the high-pressure environment of the cooking competition, which has grow a staple of Argentinian television.

“Today I got on my Vespa and went along the coast of Puglia. The sea on one side, the road ahead, and that salty wind that settles your head without asking permission. Life goes at a different pace here,” he wrote in an Instagram post.

Sources indicate the decision stems from a personal desire to prioritize his well-being and that of his family. However, this doesn’t signal a complete step back from his career.
De Santis is currently working on a new edition of his cookbook, focusing on pizzas of various styles, and a gastronomic project with his daughters. He’s also planning to open locations in the city of Corrientes.

The latest culinary battle between Ian Lucas and Sofía “La Reini” Gonet on MasterChef Celebrity (Telefe) took an unexpected turn on March 19, 2026, when Donato de Santis interrupted the competition to make an announcement that surprised everyone.
Facing the cameras and visibly emotional, the legendary judge announced his decision to step down from the format after a decade of participation. “With this one I did 10 editions of Masterchef and it was spectacular, it was beautiful. The time has come to take a step aside. I have decided that this will be my last participation”, he said, creating an immediate impact both in the studio and among viewers. During his farewell, the chef dedicated special words to his fellow judges, Damián Betular and Germán Martitegui. “They are my companions in life and gastronomy, and of this square that we are in here. They are two great professionals”, he noted. He also praised Wanda Nara, who couldn’t hide her tears: “You are an incredible person with heart, generosity and excellence.”
Before concluding, De Santis extended his gratitude to everyone who was part of the show, from contestants to the production team, and especially to the viewers. “And above all to the public, with good and constructive criticism, who was always present and accompanied me”, he affirmed.
