The Romanian Ministry of Defense announced Thursday morning that a drone crashed approximately 2 kilometers from the town of Parcheș in Tulcea County, Romania, following a new series of attacks by Russian forces in Ukraine near the border. Debris from the drone was found in a vegetated area, and the perimeter has been secured for investigation by specialized teams from the Ministry of National Defense and the Romanian Intelligence Service.

“On Thursday, March 26, the forces of the Russian Federation carried out a new series of drone attacks on civilian and infrastructure targets in Ukraine, near the fluvial border with Romania, in the northern area of Tulcea County. Two F-16 aircraft took off at 00:16 from the 86th Air Base Borcea to monitor the air situation,” the Ministry of Defense announced Thursday morning.

The source also stated that the National Military Command Center (core) notified the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations to implement alert measures for the population in northern Tulcea County, transmitting a RO-ALERT message at 00:35.

“At 00:44, a drone deflected by Ukrainian anti-aircraft defense entered national airspace for approximately 4 kilometers. The drone crashed 2 km from the town of Parcheș, outside the inhabited area. An IGSU vehicle and teams from the Ministry of National Defense were directed to the scene, where they discovered a burned area of vegetation and drone debris,” officials said.

They announced that no material damage or casualties were reported.
