Forget the recent headlines – Timothée Chalamet is back in the desert.
Following a first-look photo released by the actor himself, the official Dune 3 Instagram account shared a series of striking images on Monday, offering fans their first glimpse of the cast in Dune: Part Three.
The images reveal a transformed Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides, showcasing a close-up of his eyes while wearing a Fremen stillsuit. The character appears weathered, with visible wrinkles and red scarring, hinting at the physical and emotional toll of his journey.
Alongside Chalamet, the first look as well introduces Robert Pattinson as the new villain, Scytale, and features returning cast members Zendaya as Chani, Jason Momoa as Hayt, Javier Bardem as Stilgar, Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica, Florence Pugh as Irulan, Anya Taylor-Joy as Alia Atreides and Isaach De Bankolé as Farok.
The character portraits arrive ahead of the film’s anticipated trailer release later this week, which is expected to debut alongside the trailer for Project Hail Mary.
Denis Villeneuve is once again directing the Warner Bros. Title, slated to hit theaters on December 18, 2026.
Villeneuve has previously stated that Part Three will conclude his vision for the Dune saga, though he doesn’t necessarily view the films as a traditional trilogy. “It’s crucial that people understand that for me, it was really a diptych,” Villeneuve explained in an interview with Vanity Fair. “It was really a pair of movies that will be the adaptation of the first book. That’s done and that’s finished. If I do a third one, which is in the writing process, it’s not like a trilogy. It’s strange to say that, but if I go back there, it’s to do something that feels different and has its own identity.”
Zendaya, Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Pugh and Taylor-Joy will reprise their roles from the second film. Momoa returns after sitting out Part Two, and Pattinson joins the cast as a key new player.
The previous Dune installments have collectively grossed $1.1 billion at the worldwide box office, cementing the franchise as a major cinematic event.
