Fans of Dying Light: The Beast are in for a substantial update to the zombie survival experience. Techland recently introduced a Nightmare difficulty level, and is now preparing another significant change to gameplay.
Restored Land – A New Level of Survival
According to information released by IGN, The Beast will receive a new edition – Restored Land – on March 26, and it will be available as a free update to all existing owners of the title.
The biggest change will be the transformation of Castor Woods into a persistent game world, fundamentally altering the mechanics familiar to the series’ fanbase. Unlike standard gameplay, nearly every action within this new mode will have irreversible consequences, adding a new layer of strategic depth to the survival experience. The update highlights Techland’s commitment to evolving the game and providing fresh challenges for its player base.
Specifically, So:
- Defeated enemies will no longer respawn, allowing for the complete clearing of the map of infected.
- Collected items will also disappear permanently, significantly limiting resource availability.
- Side activities, such as convoys, can only be completed once.
- Crates will offer less loot, and shops will raise prices and have reduced stock.
- Survival mechanics will be significantly tightened – hunger will appear more quickly, and using a flashlight will require more frequent battery replacements.
The goal for players will be to gradually restore the world to its pre-apocalyptic state by eliminating infected from successive areas.
A Treat for Hardcore Players
Developers have also prepared something for the most dedicated players. Restored Land will include a permadeath option, where any failure will end the adventure. A failed attempt will be followed by a brief summary, while completing the game under these conditions will unlock unique rewards.
New Achievements and Challenges
Alongside the debut of the updated version, 7 new achievements tied to Restored Land will be added. Completing the set will be no easy feat – one achievement will require finishing the entire story with the permadeath option activated.
players will gain access to new vehicular challenges, Road Kills, which involve completing a designated route as quickly as possible while running over as many zombies as possible. Numerous fixes, new finishers, and random events will also be added to the game.
Techland recently announced that the Dying Light series has attracted over 50 million players over its 11 years on the market.
