More than €5 billion has been fraudulently obtained from the EU’s pandemic recovery fund, according to a report released by the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO). The findings highlight growing concerns about the misuse of funds intended to bolster economies impacted by the COVID-19 crisis. Last year alone, the EPPO initiated 292 recent investigations linked to the fund, officially known as the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF).
