Latvian composer and producer Edwolf is releasing his debut album, “In Search Of Home,” a project years in the making and deeply informed by recent global events. The album, a blend of pop, R&B, soul, and electronic music, features collaborations with artists from Latvia, Ukraine, and Japan, and was intentionally crafted without the use of artificial intelligence. Edwolf says the impetus to finish the album grew from the emotional weight of the war in Ukraine, with songwriting occurring both during and after his time living in Kyiv.

Edwolf’s new album, “In Search Of Home,” is a diverse sonic journey spanning pop, R&B, soul, and electronic dance music. The Latvian-based musician, a seasoned composer and producer, regularly collaborates with talented artists from Latvia, Ukraine, and Japan, prioritizing the needs of the music itself over personal artistic expression.

The result is a thematically and musically cohesive album that surprises at every turn. “In Search Of Home” explores longing for connection, nostalgia, and melancholy alongside dreams, excitement for the future, playful lightness, and love. The album’s emotional depth is particularly resonant given the current global climate, offering a soundtrack for introspection and hope.

Beyond his electronic production work, “In Search Of Home” also features Edwolf’s vocals and piano playing. The album boasts contributions from a diverse group of musicians including vocalists Evija Smagare (IVIYAN), Katrīna Gupalo, Ilze Rijniece, Sintija Aizupiete, Jānis Aizupietis, guitarists Jānis Pastars and Armands Varslavāns, and Japanese saxophonist Kenta Igaraši.

“Many friends expected a finished album from me when I first started making music, so the idea of creating one has been with me for over ten years,” Edwolf explained. “I seriously began working on the album when the war started, because the emotions and experiences were so overwhelming that I had to find time late at night or early in the morning, or in moments between working on music for clients, to finish it and create even a small story.” He continued, “I created an album where some songs were written relatively recently, while others originated when I was living in Kyiv.”

Edwolf began and completed the project in different eras, a period of rapid technological advancement where even music can now be created by robots. This realization further motivated him to complete the album himself, eschewing artificial intelligence in both the music’s creation and the development of the album’s visual materials – even this press release. “Everything connected to this album is the result of many hours of human brain work,” he stated.
