A cold front is bringing continued dropping temperatures to much of Egypt, with conditions expected to be particularly harsh early Saturday, February 28, 2026. The General Meteorological Authority forecasts a chilly morning giving way to a mild daytime, followed by very cold conditions overnight. Temperatures are expected to dip low enough to cause frost on crops in central Sinai.
Expected Weather Conditions
Dense fog is anticipated between 4 a.m. And 9 a.m. Across northern parts of the country, including Greater Cairo, the Suez Canal cities, northern Upper Egypt, and central Sinai. Light to moderate rainfall is possible at times along the North Coast and across the northern Delta region.
There is a roughly 20% chance of light showers in parts of southern Delta, Greater Cairo, and the Suez Canal cities. Winds will be active in areas along the western coast, southern Sinai, and the south of the country, contributing to the feeling of colder temperatures.
Navigational conditions are expected to be disrupted on parts of the Red Sea, the Gulf of Suez, and the Gulf of Aqaba, with wind speeds between 31 and 37 miles per hour and waves reaching between 6.5, and 9.8 feet.

North Coast Cities:
Damietta will have a low of 54°F (12°C) and a high of 63°F (17°C). Port Said will see a low of 54°F (12°C) and a high of 63°F (17°C). Alexandria will have a low of 54°F (12°C) and a high of 64°F (18°C). El Alamein will see a low of 52°F (11°C) and a high of 63°F (17°C). Marsa Matruh will have a low of 54°F (12°C) and a high of 61°F (16°C), while Siwa will see a low of 46°F (6°C) and a high of 66°F (19°C).
Suez Canal and North Sinai:
Ismailia will have a low of 46°F (8°C) and a high of 66°F (19°C). Suez will see a low of 48°F (9°C) and a high of 64°F (18°C). El Arish will have a low of 52°F (11°C) and a high of 63°F (17°C), while Rafah will see a low of 48°F (9°C) and a high of 61°F (16°C).
South Sinai:
