The news was shared by the actor’s son, musician Ahmed Abu Zahra, via a heartfelt post on Facebook. Ahmed confirmed that his father was moved to intensive care starting on the second day of Eid al-Fitr. “May God heal him and grant him wellness,” Ahmed wrote, urging the public and his father’s admirers to keep the veteran star in their prayers during this critical time.
Medical reports indicate that the actor is struggling with respiratory issues and a critical lack of oxygen, with further updates indicating suspected pulmonary edema in the lungs.
This health crisis follows a period of significant personal and financial hardship for the veteran actor. Ahmed Abu Zahra previously revealed that his father has been unable to work since 2020 and has undergone several surgeries. He expressed deep frustration over the sudden suspension of his father’s pension, which was 14,000 EGP per month, while the cost of necessary medical treatment has soared to 60,000 EGP monthly. Ahmed similarly noted a prior dispute three years ago where authorities requested tax payments despite the actor being unemployed, requiring proof of his lack of income.
