Egyptian actress Salwa Othman has publicly expressed regret over her involvement in the latest series “Ab Walakin” (A Father But), which stars alongside Mohamed Farrag and Hager Ahmed and premiered in the latter half of Ramadan. The comments came during a recent Ramadan event where Othman was asked about the show.

“I don’t like to talk about the series ‘Ab Walakin’… the behind-the-scenes wasn’t good… I regret working on it,” Othman reportedly said, according to Al Arabiya. The actress clarified that she currently feels represented in the current drama season only by her role in “Kulluhum Beyehbew Mody” (Everyone Loves Mody), starring Yasser Galal.

Othman detailed issues with the production of “Ab Walakin,” where she plays the mother of Mohamed Farrag’s character, stating the behind-the-scenes environment was “not good at all.” She also raised concerns about the order of names in the show’s opening credits, describing what she perceived as “revenge and hatred” in the arrangement. “I want to consider myself as if I never did it,” she added, as reported by Alnilin.

The actress reportedly faced difficulties in communicating with the series’ writer and director, Yasmin Ahmed Kamel, previously expressing a lack of understanding between them. While she continued filming due to contractual obligations, Othman indicated she does not wish to collaborate with the director again, according to El7ekaya.

This public criticism from a prominent actress highlights the often-complex dynamics within television productions and the potential for behind-the-scenes conflicts to impact the final product. The situation underscores the importance of clear communication and a positive working environment in the entertainment industry.
