Former coach Eirik Horneland is stepping away from the sidelines to join NRK’s broadcast team for the 2026 FIFA World Cup after recently enjoying time with his family.

Horneland announced to VG that he is taking a deliberate break from coaching and will join NRK’s team for the summer tournament.
The former Brann manager will be featured on NRK’s Bakrommet podcast starting this week and will appear in the studio in Oslo during the state broadcaster’s World Cup coverage.
“I wanted a short break from coaching,” Horneland told VG. “Then NRK quickly reached out about working on the World Cup. I thought it sounded exciting, and that idea has matured. Now I’m really looking forward to it.”
