Following the announcement, the government held an emergency meeting where Prime Minister Donald Tusk unveiled a “Plan B” to secure funding from the European Union program. “Since yesterday, Poles have been sad and angry. Poland is in shock,” Tusk stated. “It’s no coincidence that everyone in Europe is wondering what happened, how this was possible. Only in Russian newspapers is there full understanding of the president’s veto.” Meanwhile, Włodzimierz Czarzasty, the Marshal of the Sejm, indicated there was no basis for proceeding with the SAFE 0 percent bill proposed jointly by the president and the National Bank of Poland. Inside the Sejm, sharp criticism was directed at the head of state by MP Jerzy Meysztowicz of the Civic Coalition.
